This compilation started with many letters back and forth between myself, Claudia Capitini, and Edgar, my grandfather. He and I have corresponded via post for as long as I can remember. At some point, I decided that it would be worthwhile to get him to tell me some of his life stories, as I have always loved his syntax and especially his handwriting, which honestly could be its own font. I wanted to make sure that I captured his tales in his words as I feel that this is the ideal way to express his experiences genuinely Ð and how we think of his voice retelling them to us. It comes as no surprise that his life continues to span some considerable socio-political changes in South Africa, and I think his way of writing expresses his own time and place in this story as well.
