A beautiful exhibition catalog of poems written for and paired with art exploring the relationship between the visual arts and the written word in the 2013 group show Ekphrasis at the Merrill Memorial Library, Yarmouth, Maine. A call to visual artists was followed by a call to poets to select a work of art that inspired them and to write a poem about it. Seeing the works together in one setting allows each to respond to the other, building and expanding our appreciation of both.
