The book includes a taxonomic study of a genus, Galeopsomyia, of parasitic wasps that occurs only in the Americas, and mainly in tropical parts of the continent. A total of 321 species are treated, of which 302 are described as new to science. The biology of the group is discussed and hosts or host plants are known for 50 of the species and they are mainly associated with galls.
