Once upon a time, there was a science-fiction author named Alyx, also known to her friends as Rattie. After being horribly upset by a W-5 episode regarding the hellish living conditions ÒfactoryÓ chickens endure, she swore to never again buy eggs (eventually she vowed to never eat chicken again as well). As a result, she bought her own chickens, assuming they would be brainless little lawn ornaments, and when they stopped laying, she would eat them. What she learned was that there is nothing as loving, wonderful, infuriating, hilarious, and amazing as chickens.
This is the story of how she came to be a crazy chicken lady.
