As Fawcett sought to expand its romance line, the idea of creating a title specifically for African Americans was decided. Although its run was a scant three issues, it was lauded even in its time for ignoring stereotypes that were common to literature of the day, and depicting the characters in a more realistic setting and manner. This was primarily due to the writing of Roy Ald, himself European-American, and drawn by Alvin Hollingsworth, the first African-American artist hired by Fawcett. In the Golden Age of Comics, stereotypes were rampant, making this series and even greater American treasure.
