The Proceedings of the eleventh conference of the Foundation for Endangered Languages, held at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur on 26-28 October 2007.

The emergence of dominant languages, recently accelerated by globalization and manifold technological advances, has endangered minority languages all over the world. When the number of speakers of a language starts to shrink, linguists have an obligation and an important role to play in preserving and maintaining minority languages. There are various ways to prevent or slow down language death; but the collaboration between the linguists as researchers and the speakers as users of the language must always be seen as a cooperative endeavour, with the common goal of continuing the language and its culture.

The nature of the research and the relationship between researcher and the researched is the focus of this book. The book contains 22 papers on languages all over the world.
