The First Nations Watershed Planning Guidebooks are plain language guides that introduce the watershed planning process, with a focus on community engagement and use of Indigenous Knowledge. The guidebooks present examples of First NationsÕ perspectives on water, including examples from our First Nation partnersÕ own experiences. They are broad enough to apply to watershed planning in any region of Canada and may be used at any stage in the watershed planning process. These guidebooks present and explore key tasks you need to consider for your planning process.
The fourth volume, Achieving Consensus on the Plan: Design the Plan, explains how to use the developed partnerships, your First
Nations approach, and knowledge of the watershed to develop the formal watershed plan. Here we set goals and objectives, identify issues, solutions and priorities, come up with an action plan and identify linkages, and decide what success looks like and how you will measure and evaluate it.
