Artist David O'Brien's epic photo collages of thousands of human figures. An ongoing series of mass portraits rendered as galactic scale human swarms, O'Brien's artwork speaks to questions of identity and the physical body in the digital age. Much more than just bodies in space however, the subjects in the photos are all friends, relatives, and other influences in O'Brien's personal world, raising complex questions about the social webs we all weave around us in every day life.
Quoting from the artist: "My interest is in abstracting modes of connectivity. This project is rooted in the notion that interaction and shared experience can become form. These forms can feed back into a dialogue for those who are willing to consider the word nature a mutable term, one that stretches from the molecular to the astral and back again and emphatically includes the manmade."
