In the 19th Century, many of the descendants of Matthias Bruch left Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and scattered across the continent. One of his descendants, born John Barndt Schroeder Bruch, left his hometown of Easton in the 1850s and settled in Carbon County where he became a lumberman. In the process, John created a new identity for himself and his descendants by changing his family name. From Bruch to Prugh tells the story of John and his family during the 19th Century. Beginning with JohnÕs great-grandfather, Michael Bruch, this history follows the Prugh family and its ancestors as they encounter legal troubles, settle in Easton, run a logging operation in Carbon County, and ultimately settle in New Jersey. A genealogy of the descendants of Frederick Bruch, the ancestor of the Bruch family in Easton, is also included.
Picking up where Matthias Bruch, His Life and Times ends, From Bruch to Prugh is the second in a series of books that will chronicle the history of the Prugh family.
