In the middle years of the 20th century, Frank Fried produced concerts and tours for some of the most influential and profitable musical acts of the day, such as Pete Seeger, the Beatles, Frank Zappa, Miriam Makeba, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. Not many listeners knew that this pop music impresario had started out as a socialist revolutionary -- a heritage he tried to honor throughout a tumultuous show business career.
