The need for lesbian cultural space and culture makers is imminent, and the work and materials of Shelby Wynne Richardson works to fill these holes and fabricate these spaces. Lesbian space can be classified as a physical or metaphorical space in which queer female identities are celebrated, seen as the majority, and/or removed from the margins. The empowerment and pioneering of these lesbian spaces is best constructed through various methods of visibility and reclamation. Richardson utilizes these methods to expose the continued invisibility of a lesbian-centric discourse, even within contemporary queer culture. The reality is that queer bodies need each other now more than ever.
