Like so many costumed crimefighters, Doug Danville is a wealthy playboy. Like so many heroes with a secret identity, his everyday persona is considered useless and shallow. For 33 issues of Prize Comics, THE BLACK OWL perseveres through these difficulties and fights to bring justice and honor to the streets of America. There were two BLACK OWLS --- Doug passed the job on to someone else when he enlisted in the military (perhaps to finally get some recognition for the work he was doing for the betterment of society.
