The work featured here was originally produced for an exhibition of British and Australian jewellery, entitled Transplantation, which explored issues around migration and colonisation. The 'Goldweights of the 19th Century Australian Colonists' are a series of small brass objects, which are entirely fake in terms of their proposed origin and function, but their individual background stories contain more than a grain of truth.
