The Graduate 1 Studio focused on three-dimensional design/spatial development skills, design thinking skills, design process, and the ability to represent design ideas verbally, graphically, and through modeling. Through individual and team projects, the students explored and responded to issues associated with designing hospitality interiors of the ÒWÓ Hotel, South Beach, Florida. The ÒWÓ Hotel afforded the students the opportunity of an overnight stay. The exploration involved seeking valuable information, generating innovative ideas, developing design guidance, and building schematic design proposals. The student responses involved honing creative and critical thinking skills and learning techniques for designing interior spaces based on a variety of considerations. The students produced schematic design propositions and repeatedly revised and transformed their initial ideas before they arrived at acceptable, appropriate, and meaningful design solutions.
