The story of a community from its inception, through its growing pains in the 1940s and early 1950s, into a fully realized community intentionally interdenominational and interracial. It is also the story of growing up at the same time with that community. While neither an official history nor an autobiography, it records impressions of Bryn Gweled Homesteads through the author's experience, both as an historian who enjoys research and as an old woman remembering what it was like to grow up in the early, creative, dynamic days of the Homesteads in the middle of the twentieth century.
