We love using old works of literature in our childrenÕs education. Stories that come alive or Òliving booksÓ are our favorites. This is an excerpt from HarryÕs Ladder to Learning on the months of the year and nature. We love these types of stories.
You can use this to teach weather, seasons, the order of the months, animals, plants and the list goes on. When an animal or plant is brought up in the story, look it up in other books or online and learn about it. Put your story telling hat on and make up stories from the pictures or discuss what you would do if the weather was similar to the short stories. Be creative and enjoy snuggling up with HarryÕs stories.
