Mary Cascone lives on Long Island, NY, but spend her whole life enjoying her Michigan maternal grandmother's recipes. "High Mileage Pickles" is a collection of recipes compiled by the author's grandmother, Charlotte Hill, and edited by Mrs. Cascone. The title comes from her family's phrase for the ever-present dish of pickles on the grandmother's table - commonly referred to as a "sour," meaning a touch of bitter tasting food to aid in digestion. The recipes in "High Mileage Pickles" are family favorites inspired by their Pennsylvania Dutch and mid-western heritage.
