A genealogy of the eight great grandparents of Alan B. Francis. The "Great 8" ancestors are Joseph 'JosŽ Francisco da Camara Ramos' Francis, Rosa Florinda Gomes, Patrick Wall, Mary Angel, James McFee Lounsbury, Eleanor 'Ellen Alice' McFee, Robert Peel Anderson and Samantha Victoria Black. The genealogy of these eight individuals includes some of their ancestors back several generations, as early as the 17th century. Two appendixes provide the direct lineage of two early colonial era individuals, Francis Cooke and Thomas Parker. Francis Cooke was Alan Francis' 9th great grandfather. He was a passenger on the ship Mayflower that arrived at Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1620 and he was a signer of the Mayflower Compact. Thomas Parker was Alan's 8th great grandfather. He was one of the founders of Reading, Massachusetts in 1635. His descendants include Jonas Parker, the first casualty of the American Revolutionary War having been killed at the Battle of Lexington (Massachusetts) in 1775. and Captain John Parker, the commander of the Lexington Militia at the Battle of Lexington.
