As stated in a recent press release by the US Attorney General 1 person in the United States dies every 19 minutes due to drug overdose and the yearly deaths due to substance abuse is comparable to cancer deaths in the US. The funding and facilities available to those impacted by substance abuse is miniscule compared to those in other medical areas requiring rehabilitation. The facilities that are available to those affected are often outdated and in the US are commonly retrofitted pieces of architecture forced to cater to an alien program. The following is an investigation into rehabilitation, both substance abuse as well as other surrounding disciplines. The key concepts investigated in these surrounding disciplines is meant to showcase the experimentation in other fields and possibly show how these applications could be applied to substance abuse treatment centers.
