Homerville Cemetery in Turkey Creek Precinct, Gosper County, NE was established by pioneers in 1884. There were over 60 burials; today, only 40 burials have tombstones.

In the early 1880s, Homerville was a small village comprised of settlers from all over the United States as well as from Germany, Norway, England, and France! When President Abraham Lincoln signed the Homestead Act of 1862, for the first time in American history women, immigrants and freed slaves age 21 or older were allowed to own land in their own right. This Act encouraged Western migration and Homesteaders could claim 160 acres of public land.
