Hone Heke married HongiÕs daughter and was one of the first M_ori chiefs to sign the controversial Waitangi Treaty.\u003cbr\u003e\nBoth travelled to England, bought weapons and fought wars. Hongi died from wounds received in battle and Hone died from tuberculosis.\u003cbr\u003e\nFamily and friends that live in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, and introduced us to this historically rich and fascinating area, prompting the production of the Cook and Marsden, and Hongi Hika and Hone Heki accounts.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe vast volumes of books written on these famous characters are best left with the learned authors.
