ÒHymn of the Shield MaidenÓ is an advanced snare drum solo commissioned by Dr. Andrew Eldridge and composed by Mr. Doug Bush.

This solo represents a blending of traditional pipe band snare drumming with more contemporary western rudimental and orchestral ideas. The solo was written with a great deal of detail, however feel free to embellish the music as if you were accompanying a melodic line. Not every accent and tenuto needs to carry the same weight.
