Millie Speziale was the American-born daughter of south Italian immigrants who nearly died shortly after childbirth in 1904. Defying the odds, she would live on for the next 103 years, finally passing away in late 2007. In her later years, she would exclaim: I COULD WRITE A BOOK!" But sadly, she never found the time, or ambition, to do so. That challenge has now been undertaken by her son, Michael S. Speziale, in the form of an illustrated 122-page memoir. Millie's life story is full of fascinating details about growing up in a large, poverty-stricken family, experiencing two world wars and the Great Depression, and suffering the tragic loss of her first husband, Mario, while enduring the early death of her second husband, Angelo-- only to live on independently for another 3+ decades. Despite the tragedy and heartbreak, the book is full of lighter moments, embellished by memorable "Millie-isms," Millie's oftentimes humorous sayings, stories, and observations.
