Ibis the Invincible was created by Bob Kingett and debuted in WHIZ COMICS #2 in February of
1940. It was published by Fawcett Publications. Ibis would be a regular back up character in
WHIZ COMICS for over a hundred issues.
Ibis was originally Prince Amentep in ancient Egypt. Ibis was given the incredibly powerful magic
Ibistick to wield wisely during his rule. Circumstances forced Ibis and the Ibistick, along with his
partner Princess Tala, to spend 4,000 years in suspended animation. Upon awaking in two
separate museums, Ibis and Tala (of course) decide to dedicate their lives to fighting crime and
saving lives.
IBIS THE INVINCIBLE VOLUME FOUR collects his stories From Whiz Comics #99-104, #119-129
and #154. The missing stories are due to the vagaries of trademark versus public domain law.
Volume four cmpletes the largest collection of IBIS the INVINCIBLE stories available in the
public domain. Not all of the artwork is as clear and pristine as would be preferred. We are
constantly working to update our books in order to have the best possible images, but in the
meantime we hope you will accept these stories in their imperfect authenticity. In spite of
these challenges IBISTHE INVINCIBLE VOLUME FOUR is Golden Age magic!
