The Black Panther Party(BPP),originally the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, was a Marxist-Leninist and black power political organization founded by college students Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton in October 1966 inOakland, California. The Ten-Point Program is a set of guidelines to the Black Panther Party and states their ideals and ways of operation, a "combination of the Bill of Rights and the Declaration ofIndependence", released on May 15, 1967 in the second issue of the party's weekly newspaper, The Black Panther. All succeeding 537 issues contained the program, titled "WhatWe Want Now!"
