This research explores the possibilities available to Floridian homeowners of mass produced houses to make the house more energy efficient through passive design strategies and material choices. During the housing boom, developers mass produced homes with poor quality
products and craftsmanship. Few, if any, take into consideration site placement of the resident, passive design strategies, or the use of sustainable materials.
This research focuses on how one could implement passive design components with sustainable materials on a residential project; either a single residential condition or a developerÕs community. The concluding finding can then be applied to already existing houses and also be shared with home builders to incorporate into future home construction projects.
