This MFA thesis describes the first two parts of a long-term project to investigate the meaning and impact of social media use on interpersonal relationships. Through material exploration, academic research and contextualization in contemporary discourse, this book reflects on the changes that social media has had on definitions, expectations, and cultural norms with regards to friendship.
