This book is a testament to our search for dichotomies in San Diego. Our 7th grade team at High Tech
Middle Media Arts embarked on a 23-mile hike from Border Field State Park to Juan Cabrillo National
Monument in Point Loma. As we trekked through the urban terrain, we saw simpler dichotomies: Rich
vs. Poor, Land vs. Water. As we continued through our hike, we observed more complex dichotomies,
such as Social Media vs. Privacy. As we trekked on, we were able to notice even the smallest of dichotomies,
such as well dressed vs. badly dressed. We decided that it is best to settle on High-Income vs.
Low-Income, and Crime Vs. Peace
