This is the Policy Platform of Thoko Banda, Independent Presidential Candidate in Malawi. The elections are scheduled to take place in May 2014. Thoko Banda is moved to political action as I see the growing disconnect between the people of Malawi and the Malawian persons in positions of leadership. This growing disconnect begs for a political-leadership spring-cleaning at the next election, a spring-cleaning that brings freshness of energies for a new generation of leadership policies and synergies.
Fundamentally, Malawi as a nation faces three complimentary challenges that create the platform from which Malawi can continue its regression or rebound onto a progressive trajectory.
POLICY CREDIBILITY can create the PUBLIC CONFIDENCE needed to if at all the people are to buy in to and participate in the development process. Policies can succeed only when the general public believes in their effectiveness.
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCE has to be demonstrated via the articulation of socially-relevant policies.
