William Blake created 12 illustrations in 1808 for John MiltonÕs epic 1674 poem ÒParadise LostÓ, which is a vast expansion of the story of Adam and Eve. Ted Chapin updates the Milton/Blake story with his sculptural reinterpretations of BlakeÕs illustrations. ChapinÕs sculptures, seemingly mechanized augmentations of BlakeÕs gestures, express the industrial paradise now lost to us as we wander forward into the digital age.
