Fifteen years after Dayton it is more than evident that the
international intervention in Bosnia failed in the political
and economical consolidation of the country.
The current status has become a valuable thing to the
local elites, whereas the international community shifted
its focus from democracy building to implementing liberal
markets, which fails due to the nature of the intervention
and the ethnic divide. The international community as
well as the local elites keeps a democratic facade, while
the democratic participation is very limited.
The intervention as well as the local government in BiH
are on their way from un- to postdemocratic state and,
though focusing on it, fundamentally fail economic
consolidation.
