This book is meant for chemical and biomedical engineering students in their first year of studies. A student using this book is expected to be concurrently taking a calculus course. In some cases, some knowledge of introductory calculus is expected and the relevant exercises should be clearly noted. Some basic knowledge of physics is also expected for some topics related forces and working with forces.
