A compilation of stories and recipes by the child of a tenant farmer of Franklin County, North Carolina. The author relates the necessity of frugality and the resourcefulness of her parents in the years following the Great Depression. The family was close-knit. Each had assigned tasks and did them with vigor. Money was scarce and trials many, but these situations were overcome with the help of a caring community.
The book is dedicated to Easter Bunn and Martha Jane Whitley, mother and grandmother of the author.
