This is the story Chronologically of Jacob Castle, Longhunter and founder of "Castle's Woods" now Castlewood, Virginia. Jacob was the first land owner purchasing the Clinch Valley from the Shawnees by Tomahawk Rights, owning all the land between the Clinch Mountains and the High Knob Mountains to the Cumberland Gap. He was living with the Shawnees before 1750 and was charged with treason for "going over to the French and Indian side in the French & Indian War." He was acquitted in Augusta County Court.
