It is 1973. Jason Holliday, writer, poet and teacher,
is in the grip of a mid-life crisis. His commitment to
teaching, and to his long-term partner Hesta, have
stalled. They decide to separate for the summer
vacation, to give each other some space and freedom.
Jason sinks most of his savings into buying a new
bicycle and sets out on a tour of Normandy.
But JasonÕs plans to find peace and solitude
in the French countryside to muse on poetry,
philosophy and the meaning of life are soon
disrupted by the characters and eccentrics he
encounters there, as he is dragged into a series
of picaresque escapades, improbable perils,
unexpected passion and even possibly romance.
His journey becomes a pilgrimage which will
change the course of his life forever.
