Papadeus traces Xanthos' life from his birth in Wilmington in 1916 through his studies at Wake Forest College and the old Wilmington Law School, his service in World War II, to more studies at Duke University, to wrapping up with his practice in Burlington, NC beginning in 1948. The son of Greek immigrants, he became the first person of Greek decent to be licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
