This book contains a complete Price Guide and comprehensive index to John GouldÕs Monograph of the Trochilidae or Family of Humming-Birds. From 1849-1861, John Gould produced a total of 360 different folio sized hand colored stone lithographic Hummingbird plates. They were originally bound into 6 Volumes. In 1887, after GouldÕs death, a Supplementary Volume of an additional 58 plates was issued to complete GouldÕs work.
This book contains 3 separate indexes of all 418 Hummingbird plates. First, there is a complete index by plate #, as originally issued. The second index lists all plates alphabetically by scientific name. Finally, there is an extended index listing all plates alphabetically by common name. A complete Price Guide, with dealer retail price ranges for all 418 plates, is included. All of the indexes and the Price Guide are produced in large multi-page tables.
