ÔJunk BirdsÕ is a young adults picture book, about a sleeping boy, dreaming an impossible dream Ð that Junk can fly. In his dream he ÒawakesÓ every day objects from the Junkyard and transforms it into a bird. The bird flies high in the sky and travels to the park. Here he sees many strange things and meets other birds too. Yet in the little boys dream it starts to rain heavily, so heavily that the Junk Bird cannot fly! The bird is about to crash and become old Junk once again. But the boy wakes up! All the Junk is normal again. But the reader knows differently! The Junk has had its meaning changed!
