Chicken Dumpling, a shy young orphan, wants a friend. She is being raised by a motherly hen, Didi, along with a young rooster named Kung-Pao, on an urban farm in Portland, Oregon. She dreams of having a true friend, another hen like herself. When a batch of new hens finally does arrive, Chicken Dumpling must overcome her fears to discover the true meaning of friendship, family, and love.
