Hundreds of years into the future, aliens exist (and get shot out of the sky), the way of life we know is basically nonexistent and considered Òthe old worldÓ, and teens get drafted to serve the government against their will.
It is in this setting that our main character, Dexter, lives andÉ yeah, the word ÔthrivesÕ would be an exaggeration.
