I was five when it happened. My dad left me in a cellar to die. I remember the small door that separated me from him. I remember the smell of whiskey, I even remember trusting him. IÕll never do that again.

My mother was out getting groceries with my baby sister. When she heard me yell she searched for me. I rushed into her arms as she dialed 911. She was in tears. I canÕt imagine calling the cops on my husband. I wish I had gone with her, to get groceries, I really do. My father was taken to jail immediately. I had been alone ever since. No one there for me. No friends. I have lots of friends, but my true best friend was my dad. My mom loved Madeline best, and it was like she didn't care about me anymore. I was old news.
