Letters to Braeside Farm tell the story of one man's adventure in the Canadian north during World War II. The Canol Project was a joint program between the Canadian and American governments to gain access to an oil source that would not be threatened by a Japanese invasion. Alex Hemstock went up north as a young engineer to work for Imperial Oil who had an interest in the Norman Wells oilfield. These letters were saved by Alex's mother and describe his experiences during the years from 1942-1945.
