The LGBTQIA+ community has a long history of discrimination and stigma. For many years, members of the community have been ostracized, treated as second-class citizens, and subjected to hate crimes. While things have begun to improve in recent years, largely due to the efforts of LGBTQIA+ rights activists, there is still a long way to go.It is estimated that there are approximately 10 million people worldwide who identify as LGBTQIA+. That number is likely much higher, as many people do not feel safe coming out due to the fear of discrimination.
