In 2024, its a regular habit for every nation in the school to take the IQT, a standardized test that determines the pathway of every worker in the labor force. With his life in the balance, Blaze Lupal, the valedictorian of his graduating class, struggles to pass the easiest- but often gruesome- section about personality and mental health. Struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder- reliving memories, but changing them so they people in them die-he knows what awaits him: minimum wage jobs that last only months-if not weeks. Most of all, he fears that he will end up like the many people who just disappear after not having a job for a year...gone without a trace.
