Emma Smith is incredibly smart. A klutzy, 14-year-old girl living in Brownville, Kentucky, Emma is constantly pushed by her parents to succeed. But after an incident at school involving the school bully, Emma finds herself ignored by her friends and classmates and in huge trouble with her family, who are upset that she is becoming distracted from her schoolwork. Emma feels helpless and alone until miraculously, a new girl named Aria arrives at school and shares something with Emma that will change her life forever.
