Book 3 provides additional hands-on exercises to prepare the serious jazz improvisation student for Chromatic Targeting of Reduced MelodiesÑin this case focusing on 12 seventh chords spanning 2 octaves. The object is to sing, play, and read each seventh chord while learning to chromatically target (embellish) it. These exercises are also excellent for basic ear training on this most essential chordal vocabulary.
Download the free sound files and practice along with the clips. All exercises are notated in concert C, and are paced at a leisurely metronome setting of quarter note equals 60 to get you started (tempos can be changed as desired).
