The year is 1943, and a small tourist town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains has undergone much change since the United States entered the Second World War. Colorado Springs has gained three new military bases and the population has boomed. Ruth Preston, Arthur Creighton, and Ira Baumann have faced these changes and are fighting the everyday battles of the Colorado Springs home front.
They are three different people living in the same wartorn city, who know well the dreams, the fears, and the sacrifices of wartime for those on American soil. Their hardships and personal battles will be magnified by the war, as they search all the while for hope.
