This is the story of a young engineer, reluctantly starting a bush job in construction on the Mattagami River, north of Kapuskasing, Ontario in 1960. He is inexperienced and living amongst highly experienced tradesmen of all types. In just three short years he falls in love with the place and gains tremendous respect for his work associates. He does not want to leave.
