Rosenberg, Texas is unique in the Houston region. It has a long history going back to its birth as a railroad junction, in the 1880s. It is the crossroad of Fort Bend County, where Interstate 69, US 90 A, and State Highway 36 cross. It has a small town downtown, filled with local businesses in historic buildings. As Sugar Land approaches build-out, new development is moving southwest along IH- 69. New subdivisions are springing up on the prairie, and the new Brazos Town Center has brought large national retailers. Since 2012, commuters can ride park and ride buses from Rosenberg into Houston.
