In 1844 Wilhelm Loehe published "Agende fŸr christliche Gemeinden des lutherischen Bekenntnisses," literally, "Agenda for Christian Congregations of the Lutheran Confession," or as Longaker translated in 1902, "Liturgy for Christian Congregations of the Lutheran Faith." Here, in this reprint edition, the book has been titled "Loehe's Agende" for common recognition.
Loehe wrote this book with his Neuendettelsau congregation in mind as well as the mission churches in North America. For this reason he dedicated the book to Pr. Friedrich Wynecken.
Dr. Geiger writes in Loehe's biography, *The Life, Work, and Influence of Wilhelm Loehe: 1808Ñ1872*, "Loehe researched more than 200 older church orders for this agenda and picked out the best for a new order of service for the 'brothers across the sea.'"
In 1902, those "brothers across the sea" desired to have his Agende translated into English. Now, in 2023, it has been made available once again for the English speaking Lutheran Church.
